Infant Jesus Pastoral Council - Meeting Minutes - 3-8-11

Date/Time:    March 8, 2011 – 7pm
Location:    St. John Vianney Center
Present:    Father Szolack, Sister Michelle, Deacon Nick Danze, Deacon James King, Diane Cusick, Jessica Fahy, Steve Graham, Tammy Gatto, Nick Moffa, Tom Petri and Karen Walters.

1.  Father Szolack led council in an opening prayer.

2.  Minutes were approved from the February meeting.

3.  Census:  We are off to a fantastic start with the data collected thus far.  Sharon will import the data collected.  The Diocese is planning a 2012 diocesan wide uniform census.  This will be a very broad census and will take a while to complete.  In the meantime, the Diocese has encouraged us to continue with our efforts.  Step 2 will be to send home the registration form to our School and Religious Ed. Children.  Step 3 is to look at our lists and send a letter to those we have not heard from.  We also need to mark new registrations from this day forward to ensure that  households who are newly registered are not called or mailed as part of the update and follow-up process.

4.  Website:  Steve Graham is seeking support in the upkeep of our Parish website and is looking for individuals who may be interested in taking over the website.

5.  Questions arose as to our computer network and if we have a back-up on the server.  Deacon James will look into this.

6.  Youth Group:  Jessica reported that Youth Group has been active.  She would like to have a music festival of praise in June.

7.  Spirituality Committee Report:   Our marriage vow renewal was a success.  We are getting ready for Lent with Soup and Scripture followed by Stations of the Cross.

Deacon Nick advised that we are in the process of forming a Parish based marriage preparation program.  This is not purely academic.  The program will incorporate married couples in our Parish to guide the couples preparing for marriage throughout the year, and potentially invite them into their lives, their homes, to Parish events, etc.
Deacon James reported on a new model/program for preparation for baptism wherein couples preparing for the sacrament will meet with other couples.  There will also be discussion tables with selected couples whom are exemplary examples of living the faith.

8.  School News:  Sister Michelle indicates that everything is going well.  Sister and Deacon Nick described an auction fundraiser that they have visited and are considering implementing at St. Margaret School.

8.  Old Business:  No comments.

9.  New Business:  Tom inquired if we can include bulletin inserts in the Parish website.  The online calendar needs to be updated and perhaps the front page could list current events.  Steve reiterated the need to obtain to help in regard to maintaining the website.

We discussed at length our various ministries and the impact of our behavior in representing Infant Jesus Parish.

10.  The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ministry Center.

11.  Karen Walters led council in a closing prayer.
